Alpaca-related products and services ...

This page caters to alpaca breeders and others who produce and/or distribute products or services that are in some way related to the alpaca industry.  Possibilities are only limited to the imagination.  Apaca products such as gifts, books, greeting cards, knitted garments, raw and carded fleece, feed supplements and spun yarn are just a few that come to mind.  Services such as agistment, insurance, halter training and weaning may also be of interest.

If you offer a product or service that may be of interest to the alpaca community, simply send us an email with a description and your contact details.  A high-resolution photo would help make your listing more attractive.  We'll take care of reducing it to fit in with the rest.

Product or Service Contact

Agistment
- Temporary or permanent grazing available.  Over 50 acres of pasture divided into 20 paddocks.  Security cameras overlook each paddock and daily monitoring ensures animals are safe and healthy.  Paddocks are sprayed during the summer months, with weekly spore counts taken from each paddock.  We can look after your females that are due to give birth while you are away or crias that need to be weaned from their mothers.   Nominal daily charge plus extra fees during last month of gestation.  Generous discounts on agistment if you use our males to maintain pregnancies.  We can also sell your alpacas on your behalf.

Alpaca & Llama Pellets
- Formulated to produce an energy and protein supplement from the forage lucerne.  Additional fibre sources such as meadow hay chaff and sugar beet pulp have been introduced to further enhance the natural fibre intake.

Whilst the fat soluble Vitamins A, D and E are present in most conventional ruminant supplements, Alpaca and Llama Pellets also contain Vitamin B1, the vitamin implicated in Polioencephalomalacia.

Nutritional levels of trace minerals and vitamins are included in Alpaca and Llama Pellets, plus dicalcium phosphate to provide for the generally recognised higher phosphorus requirements of camelids.

Centrifuge.
If you want to take parasite management
seriously, then you should be doing your own faecal egg
counts.   If you would like to reduce the amount of drench you
are using without compromising the health of your alpacas or if you want to check that your drenching has been successful in eradicating the parasites, a centrifuge will help you count the number of parasites present in a faecal sample.   Over time it will cost far less than sending samples to a laboratory and is usually more sensitive than the method used by the
laboratories. Click here for centrifuge pricing information.

Halter training & weaning service
, available to breeders with
"day jobs" who would like their alpacas to be easier to handle
but don't have the time to work with them.   The weaning
portion of the service provides a way for breeders, who don't
have a separate paddock to use to isolate crias, to easily
wean them off their mums.  The halter training service is ideal for breeders who don't have the time to get their animals ready for the show ring.  Click here to learn more about the weaning and/or halter training services offered by Kaipara Pines
