Description:
Alex was a slow starter as he was born in a year when we
had
mostly female cria. He really missed
the rough and tumble of
growing up with a bunch of other boys. Eventually we
sent him
away to 'boot camp' at a friend's farm where he could have a
bunch of
young guys to hang out with.
As he was white and we were concentrating on breeding
coloured alpacas, we pretty much ignored Alex and took all our
more unusual animals to the shows. It was only when his half
brother won our first Championship ribbon and we were driving
home from that show in a state of elation, that Gay commented
that Alex's fleece was even better than the boy who had won the
Championship that day, with Alex being a year older. We decided
to have another good look at Lallybroch Alexander! The rest is
history.
